5 Travel Tricks & Tips For Travelistas On The Go
I am honored to be taking part in “The Traveling Brown Girls Blog Carnival”
Here are my 5 Travel Tricks & Tips For Travelistas On The Go
Getting ready to leave town or leave the country? Why is it that before a trip things get hectic or does that only happen to me?
The trick to keeping it all together is having a plan. These 5 tips will help.
1. Check your travel documents. Is your drivers license or passport current? Check your expiration dates.
If your documents are not up to date, imagine showing up at the airport and being denied boarding.
2 .Traveling overseas? What will help you keep your money and passport close to you?
A Money Belt – don’t leave home without one.
3. Always keep prescription medicine, passport and eyeglasses with you in case of lost luggage
4. Consider packing for your trip several days before and have a checklist of essential items.
5. Pack light and save money. This is challenging but you can do it by planning ahead and thinking through what is essential.

Thanks Shannon.

Very good tips, Eva. I know your money belt tip is the way to go, but somehow, I just don’t like them. My partner always uses one, and he’s swears by them. Will have to re-think my position…a bit of discomfort versus my head exploding should my valuables be lost or stolen. I am also with you on the medicine. I always have mine in hand luggage. I have asthma and allergies, so I look like a mobile pharmacy capable of dispensing to a small village, but I don’t care. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks Shelby, You may want to consider the necklace style money belt. It can be challenging depending upon the type of top you are wearing. It’s another option.

Hi Eva,
I use the necklace type money belt, and usually wear it in an “over the shoulder” way under my shirt. That way it doesn’t seem to put as much stress on my neck.

I sat next to someone who had to leave their husband at home on her way to Jamaica. His passport was expired and they didn’t realize until 2 days before the trip…He would make it a day later, but only a lot fees and stress in the process.

That can be really stressful, I hope that these series of posts from the Carnival will help folks avoid some of the pitfalls.

My passport expires within the next 3 yrs. I plan to renew at least a year in advance in 2014. And I do plan to pack light but make a list of essentials so I won’t be spending money on items I left at home.

I leave two weeks tomorrow for my trip to Italy with my twin sister. I need to start packing soon. I don’t want to pay any extra fees. Thanks for the tips. You can read our 5 tips at: http://wcptakealeap.blogspot.com/2012/10/5-travel-tricks-tips-for-travelistas-on.html

Thanks for sharing your tips. I especially liked tip #4. It is a great reminder for long flights.

Great Tips Eva! The passport is a big one. I see so many people denied boarding because their passport will expire in six months.

Thanks for being a part of the Traveling Brown Girls Blog Carnival! Great tips!
I’m always surprised that people don’t know when their important travel documents expire. In fact, on American Airlines, you can’t even print your ticket on an international flight unless you enter in passport info. Yikes.
And your tip #3 is critical. I’ve been in Paris for 48 hours and just received my delayed luggage. Fortunately, I had everything I needed in my carryon so I didn’t sweat it.
Thanks for being #traveltastic!

Good tip to pack several days before. Less likely to be in a hurry and forget something.

This is one tip that challenges me. I am a last minute packer, I confess but I am working on it.

Those are great tips Eva. Thanks for sharing them! I would have never thought about keeping medicine on me, but that makes so much sense!

Your welcome Melissa, I am glad it was helpful.

Cool Tips, Eva! Thanks! Yeah, lay out your clothes a week ahead, then take away about half! 🙂

Thanks Bobbie

Agree totally on packing ahead of time. I also encourage people to get extra medicine bottle from pharmacy, load up and add 2 extra days med, then leave the rest at home.
